I AM YOUR TEMPLE
In my work I am your temple, which is still continuing, I started with some fundamental questions: »What is our most private, personal place?« and »What are our own most primal, intimate situations?« At first, I answered these questions by photographing people in their homes and bedrooms, sometimes sleeping, for example. Perhaps our sleep and dreams are our most private phenomena?
Additionally, I collaborated ideas with the subjects that involved simple movements and every day situations, revolving around questions of privacy and personal space, »What is a portrait?« and »What is intimacy?« I wanted to find a unique visual approach to the majority of images that currently surround us.
Diversity in the people I photographed, especially in terms of age, was very important to me. Furthermore, my work was about following several different visual bodily images and perceptions of the body. Over time, my work began to increasingly revolve around topics such as the relationship between isolation and connection. Covid reinforced these themes, and I decided to work with couples as well as with the nature that surrounds us.
